Best Practises Carried out in Jal Shakti Abhiyan

Jal Shakti Abhiyan

Farm Pond

Stored water can be used for supplemental irrigation to crops.

It is useful as drinking water for cattles during drought situation.

It conserves soil and moisture.

Decreased exploitation of ground water.

Check dam

Check dams are used primarily to improve ground water, control water velocity, conservation soil, and improve land.(Multi Arch Buttress Check Dam)

Recharge shaft

It is constructed where the shallow aquifer is located below gravelly sandy surface. Recharge shaft is back filled with coarse aggregate and sand. Recharge can significantly increase the sustainable yield of Borewell. During rainy season the terrace water flow into the Borewell without any losses.

Sunken Pond

During rainy days, the water will not enter into the agriculture lands; it will directly go to the lake by supply channel. Lot of land is located on both sides of the supply channel and it is helpful in increasing the underground water level of those agriculture lands.

Amrit sarovar
